Skin colours nearest the North Pole are very pale Skin colours nearest the South Pole are very dark So cold weather or the polar days or nights or solar radiation don't seem to be a cause.

The Milky Way Galaxy has 200 -> 400 billion stars Dwarf galaxies contain around 10 billion stars whereas giant galaxies can contain upwards of a trillion stars. Check out what people who think they are alone in their Universe tend to do when they discover otherwise. A cargo cult is a religious practice that has appeared in many traditional pre-industrial tribal societies in the wake of interaction with technologically advanced cultures. The cults focus on obtaining the material wealth (the "cargo") of the advanced culture through magic and religious rituals and practices. Cult members believe that the wealth was intended for them by their deities and ancestors. Cargo cults developed primarily in remote parts of New Guinea and other Melanesian and Micronesian societies in the southwest Pacific Ocean, beginning with the first significant arrivals of Westerners in the 19th century. Similar behaviors have, however, also appeared elsewhere in the world.
Cargo cult activity in the Pacific region increased significantly during and immediately after World War II, when the residents of these regions observed the Japanese and American combatants bringing in large amounts of material. When the war ended, the military bases closed and the flow of goods and materials ceased. In an attempt to attract further deliveries of goods, followers of the cults engaged in ritualistic practices such as building crude imitation landing strips, aircraft and radio equipment, and mimicking the behaviour that they had observed of the military personnel operating them.Over the last sixty-five years, most cargo cults have disappeared. However, the John Frum cult, one of the most widely reported and longest-lived, is still active on the island of Tanna, Vanuatu. This cult started before the war, and only became a cargo cult afterwards. A number of editions of the Papua New Guinea Post-Courier from late 1969 report an apparent latter-day cargo cult, but with more traditional practices en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cargo_cultI recognise this behaviour even in our 'advanced' society/culture.

Skin colours nearest the North Pole are very pale Skin colours nearest the South Pole are very dark So cold weather or the polar days or nights or solar radiation don't seem to be a cause. People migrated towards the South from the North in South America, and many other regions, so they were already dark skinned before they arrived, and not enough time has elapsed to allow for adaptation.

So is there any evidence for how long it takes human skin colour to adapt to climate?
If not, how do we know that it happens?

What about all the gods who begat and begot all over the place? And their sons mating with the local inhabitants (according to the Bible.) You might also check out the Puranas, Vedas, Codex Vaticanus. Full of gods who came to dissipate knowledge and help with rebuilding after the deluge. Google these Zishwezi Nommo Quetzalcoatl Viracocha Wandjina (related to Solomon's Jinn-Djin-Genie-Genius?) Huang-Di The Cherokee believe their forebears came from the Pleiades The Hopi believe they came from Mars (if I remember correctly) In Japan Emperors claim to descent from dragon gods that came from the sky Check out the ancient fearbears of Wales and Ireland. Okay, where did you get the information the Cherokee came from the Pleiades? That is complete nonsense. Here is the Cherokee story of how the Pleiades came to be: www.snowwowl.com/legends/cherokee/cherokee20.html

I think it is commonly known that in native traditions different legends are provided to children, women, men and initiates in order to unveil progressively the traditional teachings. "By Mike (Ali) Raccoon Eyes Kinney As an Traditional but urban born and raised Cherokee, I put the out spiritual call that it is soon time for the Creator's World Renewal Medicine cycles to begin soon................ Our forefathers were from the stars in effect we are the descendants of star children. Look at our proud Cherokee nation flag, there are 7 stars and and one of them is with 7 points. Our original Ancestors in the oral traditions stated we came the star systen that is called Pleiades ...... Our Ancestors have stated that the Original Cherokee people came in 'flying machines from Pleiades." nativeamericannetroots.net/diary/260/cherokee-spirituality-and-the-call-for-creator-s-world-renewal-medicineIt seems that many native traditions around the world claim to be descended from star people.

The choice of disbelief is of course open to all. It may however be a less efficient method for discovery of truth.

From the above link, and with respect, my attempt to relate it to creation stories. My attempt bracketed and in bold. ORIGIN OF THE PLEIADES AND THE PINE
A Cherokee Legend
Long ago, when the world (planetary or individually) was new (forming), there were seven boys (recognisable energy centres) who used to spend all their time down by the townhouse playing the gatayû'stï game, rolling a stone wheel (Wheel of Karma?) along the ground and sliding a curved stick after it to strike it (Spinal column/33 bones)
Their mothers (Soul) scolded, but it did no good, so one day they collected some gatayû'stï stones and boiled them in the pot with the corn (corn and water stories) for dinner. When the boys came home hungry their mothers dipped out the stones and said, "Since you like the gatayû'stï better than the cornfield, take the stones now for your dinner." (earth oriented)
The boys were very angry, and went down to the townhouse, saying, "As our mothers treat us this way, let us go where we shall never trouble them any more." They began a dance--some say it was the Feather dance-and went round and round the townhouse (circumambulating the lodge) or (going round and round in circles), praying to the spirits to help them.
At last their mothers (souls) were afraid something was wrong and went out to look for them. They saw the boys still dancing around the townhouse, and as they watched they noticed that their feet were off the Earth (lost their way), and that with every round they rose higher and higher in the air. (reminds me of Peter Pan and the Lost Boys)
They ran to get their children, but it was too late, for then, were already above the roof of the townhouse--all but one, whose mother managed to pull him down with the gatayû'stï pole, but he struck the ground with such force that he sank into it and the Earth closed over him. (Consciousness captured by the base chakra?)
The other six circled higher and higher until they went up to the sky, where we see them now as the Pleiades, which the Cherokee still call Ani'tsutsä (The Boys). The people grieved long after them, but the mother whose boy had gone into the ground came every morning and every evening to cry over the spot until the Earth was damp with her tears. (compassion) (We also have the Christian Mother of God crying over the lost souls and pleading with God not to destroy them)
At last a little green shoot sprouted up and grew day by day until it became the tall tree that we call now the pine, and the pine is of the same nature as the stars and holds in itself the same bright light. (the Brow chakra resembles the pine cone (Pineal gland) and is said to hold in it the same bright light as the stars - that light when activated is so bright that on another level it appears as a Crown. Sol-omon's crown?)

In recent years the New Zealand Maori have reinstituted their traditional new year celebration when the Pleiades (Matariki) comes above the horizon. Mata ariki means "eyes of god" "Pio, of Ngati-Awa,................. says: “I will now tell you about another ancestor in the heavens, one Matariki, and her six children..."...... he remarks that the assembly of Matariki came down to earth.......” " www.nzetc.org/tm/scholarly/tei-BesAstro-t1-body-d1-d6-d4.htmlMatariki's presence on Earth is concealed in Masonry as a beehive. Hence antient Masons referred to a lodge as a hive.

Henka, your post sent me on a search... are the following two posts common knowledge among the Cherokee people? Legend of the Keetoowahs
….. Legend has it The Great Spirit turned to the peoples of America and guided them. They too began to violate their teachings by committing murders and feuding with the seven clans. The seven clans with their medicine men met around a fire to request guidance from The Great Spirit. The most truthful seven holy men selflessly gave of themselves for the tribe.
They carried medicine deerskin and medicine tobacco. The medicine men spread out the deerskin and prayed. They blew smoke over the deerskin, and watched the smoke trails for a sign from The Great Spirit. Inspiration led the medicine men to travel up to the top of a mountain, each day one new medicine man for seven days.
On day seven, a messenger came down from The Great Spirit, appeared in a bright light, and stated that The Great Spirit heard the prayers of the medicine men and held passion for their people. First, the men were told that they would someday fly in the air. The messenger warned of an enemy white ball from the east traveling their way, but that their grandchildren¹s feet were facing toward Tsusginai - west - the 'ghost land'.
The messenger warned of trials on the edge of the prairie, with tribes dividing into different factions and their blood evolving into only half of their heritage. The messenger forewarned that families would divide and disregard chiefs, leaders and medicine men. The schools would teach important knowledge to all the people and the young people would return to point rudely at the elders. However, if the younger generation would heed The Great Spirit's instruction, a chance would exist for the people to turn back east, otherwise they would go to Tsusginai then to the coast, then leave by boat, never to return. They were given the 'Keetoowah' namesake and were instructed to return to their fire for worship, and prophesy to their people.

From the same link... Cherokee Star Constellation - Prophecy of the Rattlesnake
The Rattlesnake shall become a FEATHERED RATTLESNAKE or FEATHERED SERPENT of TIME UNTIME.
And upon the Rattlesnake is also the Milky Way. A crossing of the Milky Way shall be seen at these times.
For the center of the Universe is what many know as the Constellation Sagittarius by modern man. But upon this constellation of is also found the Pleiades Star system which is what is different in the boundary of others and the Cherokee Zodiac.
The Milky Way is ALSO a Tree ... STONE TREE. And upon Stone Tree is as a Tree with a tree trunk, branches, a top, and even roots. The Flower and the Tree is also a tassel as corn. And upon the flower and the tree is the TREE OF LIFE. REBIRTH, RENEWAL, NEW.
And the Cherokee Calendar shall end in the year 2012. But upon the times just prior shall be the Feathered Serpent and its prophecy. Upon the Heavens design, within the Cherokee Rattlesnake Constellation, it is written. And upon the Rings of TIME UNTIME of the Cherokee Calendar it also says BEHOLD RATTLESNAKE CONSTELATION. And Remember.
The Rings of the Cherokee Calendar are read by the winding motion of the Rattlesnake. To Add or to subtract TIME UNTIME. To MOVE the Wheels backward or forward, to add a wheel to move the rings, to tell the tale what was, what is, and to be. The Rattlesnake and it design tells the movement of the RINGS OF TIME.
And in the sky heavens the motions of the movement of stars, planets, and life tell the tale of its bearing. For all is as the winding of the Rattlesnake. And in the year 2004 the Morning Star shall be first and in the year 2012 the Evening Star shall be first. And upon those years the crown of the Feathered Serpent shall bear its colors and honor. The hands shall hold the bowl and the tail shall be as the roots of a Tree, The Pleaides Tree of the beginning. And in the Year 2004 and 2012 shall be the TIME UNTIME of the Feathered Serpent of the Sky Heavens. And the Rings shall turn upon those years of prophecy foretold on the Rings of TIME UNTIME. And Ywahoo Falls Kentucky shall sing of Venus and the Feathered Rattlesnake. For this is not all the prophecy not all the things thereof. For if it was meant for one to know and I give only part, then you have received a great gift. For if I tell all and it was not meant for one to know then I have waisted my breath. For this is a sacred thing, the Venus Alignment and the Feathered Serpent of the Heavens.
And in the Year 2012 the Cherokee Calendar Ends. And all is reborn. For the Feathered Rattlsnake comes and shall be seen in the heavens in the year 2004 to 2012. In the south of the americas ... it is related as the coming of Quetzalcoatl. The Ancient Cherokee relate it as the coming of the Pale One once again. The Rattlesnake Constelation shall appear with the Venus Alignment. The Stars of the Heavens of the Cherokee Zodiac, the Rings of the Calendar, and The Venus Alignment tell the story of a Chickamaugan Prophecy. For they all are aligned in the year 2004 to 2012.
Stones, wheels, trees, and the curved stick is a rattlesnake ? All in the story you posted henka. I am printing this lot out so I can study it further.

more plausable than aliens dropping us here from the Pleiades. In the Maori tradition it is not aliens dropping us but us dropping us. This concept is pretty common in native traditions across the world. It is why so many native traditions speak of being sons of the god(s).

I plan to read your link at length tonight Paul... these Cherokee and Maori traditions are of real interest to me.
What I like most about threads like this, is not who is right or wrong, but the journeys we take each other on with the various links or ideas.
What we believe to be true at a given time might just be an indicator of where we are on our individual journeys. Kind of like those little tanks, ships etc that one see being pushed around on the battle tables in War Offices.
