Mine is:-
1. You need an emotional connection to act like a bridge. This emotional connection need only be momentary, and it must be a deep connection almost connecting soul to soul. I am not sure that it is something that you can "make happen" but it just happens when the conditions are right, and these conditions could be tied into the lessons one needs to lean in life and taking steps up the old ladder.
2. Over this emotional connection you think and communicate.
Just wait until a hassled mum swan who is clearly frustrated by her troublesome teenager child and leaves them with you to babysit for an afternoon while they get some peace and quiet ;D
If you ever get the chance to get close to swans treasure it, they like to visit and when they get to the stage that mum and dad swan leave all of their children to sleep with you (one signet was on my foot asleep) while they keep guard before setting down to sleep themselves, that is a very special moment. The cross species trust is awesome.
Mind you even I woulnt get to close to an angry swan.
As an aside for Paul every time I visit Bleinheim palace and pass through the iron wroght gates with the swans on them, I always click. While the palace building itself does not do a huge amount for me (nice as it is) those gates do make me feel "at home".
Anyhow enough babbling.

If you can't describe what you are doing as a process, you don't know what you're doing.
That is a rather mental approach.
There are however many expressions in English that indicate the existence of non-conceptual forms of knowledge. For example:
- getting the hang of it - having a feel for it - being born to it - having a green thumb - having the knack.
Edwards Deming of course was interested in reducing variability in standardised processes. He did not however reject instinctive knowledge seeing in the workforce experience the primary means for obtaining new insights that would allow improved processes.

Just the opposite. He urged the speculative management be informed by the operative workforce.
