BB who have visited some LL. abroad may have noticed differences, which may or may not be significant.
1 Placement of Altar & Lesser Lights The A. in America is uniformly placed in the Center of the L. In England the A. seems to move toward the E. sometimes even abutting the pedestal of the R.W.M. What effect does that have on the placement of the L.L.? Even when the A. is placed in the center of the L. the arrangement of the L.L. may vary. In some illustrations, the Can. kneels between 2 L..Ls, leaving the 3rd to the South East of the A. In other LL the arrangement is 1L.L. to the N.W of the A., 1 to the N.E. and 1 to the S.E. Are these differences significant?
2 The Apron In some places the Ap. is tied under the suit jacket and in others over the suit jacket. Is one more correct that the other?
3. The Words In some Obediences the W..s for the 1° and 2° have been switched after they had appeared in print, to prevent "book masons" from falsely entering a L. In one case the letter "h" was inserted into the middle of the 1° W...d for the same reason. Have these words been hopelessly confused?

I prefer a more central location because the A. may attract a plumb line from on high and it is much better to have the working done around the plumb line.
The placement of the lesser lights in Australia is commonly at the pedestals of the principal officers. If there were proper flows associated with the LL that would reinforce the functions of those officers.
The apron in the Scottish tradition is under the jacket. It took me 20 years to understand why. The apron is the badge of innocence and when made of proper material (in Australia: kangaroo skin) then it serves to insulate the lodge from the less than innocent energies of a brother who has yet to control physical desires. Closer contact produces better insulation.

Since the genuine secrets were lost (about 1717?) all the words are substitutes of lesser rather than greater value. Alternatively, when Moses conducted a lodge in the desert wanderings, which words would he have used, KST not being in existence?
