Actually the all seeing eye is not the same (historically or metaphysically) as the human 3rd eye - but there are some parallels.
In Chapter the all seeing eye is on top of a sceptre. This indicates that what is here represented by the eye does not exist in the human body.
See left of the image below.
and what are the parallels? while explanation given on the left of the image makes good sense, i dare say that the over-all response is very vague. I guess I may have to avoid asking esoteric questions related to Freemasonry going forward
The best known historical example of the all seeing eye is:
"Enlil, whose command is far-reaching, whose word is holy, The lord whose pronouncement is unchangeable, who forever decrees destinies, Whose lifted eye scans the lands, Whose lifted light searches the heart of all the lands, Enlil who sits broadly on the white dais, on the lofty dais, Who perfects the decrees of power, lordship, and princeship, The earth-gods humble themselves before him.."
The modern equivalent is a satellite. Enlil was delegated the role of lord (Baal/Bul) of the Earth hence it was necessary for him to monitor global activities.
Note the distinction between Enlil and the earth-gods. This also appears in 1 Corinthians 8:5 For though there be that are called gods, whether in heaven or in earth, (as there be gods many, and lords many,)
The ritual of Holy Royal Arch preserves some aspects of Sumerian spiritual teachings. (Abraham was from Sumer)
Hmnnn... I am rather inclined (and have always argued) to believe that the All-Seeing Eye is related to Cosmic Consciousness rather than an technological eye in the sky. That doesn't mean that myth and history have not leaned on each other.
As above, so below. As God is Omniscient, so might we gain a measure of that when the the Pineal (pine cone) is opened.
People who have peak experiences often tell of having a brief moment of 'knowing everything' but lose the details when normal consciousness returns.
Love the image in the Freemasonry section, blackdragon1. That whole image superimposed upon the Tree of Life will reveal more to you. You must reverse it though. The Moon will be Binal and the Sun Chokmah.

For teaching purposes the metaphysical construct of the "all seeing eye" is layered on the historical example. In a similar way, the metaphysical nature of Freemasonry is layered on to the tradition of operative stone mason lodges.
From the mystical experience of 'knowing everything' we may deduce that the GAOTU does not rely on an eye to see all.
Ida is the left channel. Ida is white, feminine, cold, represents the moon and is associated with the river Ganga (Ganges). Originating in Muladhara, Ida ends up in the left nostril.
Pingala is the right channel. Pingala is red, masculine, hot, represents the sun and is associated with the river Yamuna. Originating in Muladhara, Pingala ends up in the right nostril.
Sushumna is the central channel and is associated with the river Saraswati. Running up the body from just below Muladhara chakra to Sahasrara chakra at the crown of the head.
From Muladhara chakra, Ida and Pingala alternate at each chakra until they reach Ajna chakra where they meet again with Sushumna.
In Ajna chakra the meeting of the three main nadis is called Mukta Triveni (Mukta : "liberated"). Continuing beyond Ajna chakra, Ida and Pingala end in the left and right nostrils respectively.
Once the Kundalini Shakti has ascended through Sushumna to Sahasrara, the highest psychic center at the crown of the head, it is made to reverse its course and return to rest in the base center again.
Those familiar with Royal Arch ceremonies - think about the ceremony itself.
One can't help but wonder if the 3rd P might represent the EA at another level, the 2nd P the FC and the 1st P, the Master. Serve with the hands, serve with the mind, Serve.
