Does this mean that those who have little understanding of the secrets of heaven will lose even what they have?
On this subject - "Ask and it shall be given you" - has been a wonderful source of help for me. I ask and then find that I am given the next clue. I still have to do the leg work.

I am not sure that is the case. The "secrets of the reign of the heavens" are held to be that Jesus Christ was born and died. What sort of secret is that - from the point of view of the faithful?
And having ignored the meaning of that first part of the statement the rest of the statement is therefore meaningless. So I do not see that any reader of the NT has any fear because of it.
