judaisme Easter is Pesach or Passover because for the last plague of Egypt (killing first born), God passed over the houses of jews and only killed egyptian children
Hopefully he is better disposed towards the Egyptians these days
When I was a good Catholic school girl, I tried several time to read the Bible from cover to cover... but when I got to the 'bad bits' I just put it down. I couldn't reconcile the God of Love being so mean to people.
When you think about it... both Judaism and Christianity are celebrating the same thing... salvation. Salvation from that king of all terrors, death - one by avoiding it, the other by surviving it.

Albeit "veiled in allegory", Easter is the celebration of the spring solstice. It is the triumph of life over death, or spring over winter.
They say Japan was made by a sword. They say the old gods dipped a coral blade into the ocean, and when they pulled it out four perfect drops fell back into the sea, and those drops became the islands of Japan. I say, Japan was made by a handful of brave men. Warriors, willing to give their lives for what seems to have become a forgotten word: honor. -The Last Samurai
...anything to do with Pisces being next... being the age assoc with the Master of Loving Kindness. Love thy neighbour 'springs' to mind... and it replacing the cold hard Mosaic Law. Just a little playful lateral thinking there.

Gah, I said "solstice." Silly me. I think the reason is simple, that the ancients observed two calenders, the thirteen month lunar and the solar, one the province of the common people (Lunar) which was seasonally important to husbandry and agriculture, and the other (Solar) being a more precise measurement of time pertinent to astrology/astronomy, which was the province of the religious leadership.

Which brings us back to the Zodiac in Freemasonry...
Indeed. We are the inheritors of a tradition that goes back to antediluvian times. The importance of applied astronomy was critical to the survival of the human race, following the worldwide disaster (cometary strike) that occurred prior. This is what the Book of Enoch is really about. It antedates the rest of the Old Testament by a considerable amount.

We know the sun and the moon influence life on earth, what if our part of the universe was a dodecahedral construct... there being twelve strong influences upon the earth and all life on it.
This twelve system being able to be reduced to four... a mirror of the twelve signs and the four fixed signs.
