I note the use of the word "must". This suggests that the s&c are indispensable in the pursuit of wisdom.
In my observation, the floor of inner temples (including heavenly) can be compared to a tiled pavement - often of rectangular tiles.
The rectangular nature of the "tiles" is caused by the forces between the four "corners" of Creation.
Where the forces are not at right angles the "tiles" may be diamond shaped (as in some lodges - particularly where both Wardens are in the West) or even perhaps keystone shaped if in a circular pavement as seen in some HRA depictions.
