Are we processing the trauma of the underworld?

A thought occurred to me,

If you see the skulls in the background they are arranged according to the continents currently on the surface of this planet,

And, given the underworld I am so intimately connected to, and the horror that has been that inner earth life,

It seems, as if, surface humans, are being fed the trauma of these inner earth peoples. Why? Is it to bring them peace?

Or, to bring us peace, as we now are residents of a world that is far older than we are, and as such, we are inheriting its baggage.

I am seeing two conflicting views,

1. Unity with the inner earth, but, also, being affected by them (Possibly adversely)

2. Destruction of the inner earth, or alienation/insulation from them (Impossible. Some of the groups are older and more powerful than we are, and far more advanced.)

An issue is, that humans are unaware that, we are influenced by these energies. Is this why one of the steps of enlightenment is "Getting control of" them? So they are no longer under control of these, inner, energies that manipulate us...

As the human learns to control energies s/he can act from choice rather than under external influences
