"a poem! a poem!", all the children cried.. smiles r on their faces, eyes r open wide.. "make it a nice and long one, with dragons or a crook!" "or take a golden oldie from that long forgotten book?"
"that book is full of wonders, for big and also small, for boys and girls alike it is, in stable and in hall.. it speaks of places wide and far where everything is strange.. events that r infolding there r in a state of change..
the future there is also now and present also past.. its hard just to imagine how, a mind there wouldnt last.. so what tale can be told of it if man can not be there? a complex yet intriguing plot, a wonderous affair!
to read the book u have to know some universal slang.. its anchient tongue and hard to see but u will get the hang.. once known to u, the book is yours for absolutely free.. it will always be with u, that much i guarantee!
now read it well and read it oft, all hours of the day, and learn from it all that u can so that it also may, make u aware of inner self, its manners and its ways, well balanced u will truly be untill time fades in haze..."

Oh - how I do not miss that Bro vs Bro jousting! I read the whole thread on the link posted - personal attacks are never brotherly. Mgc - you are one of my favourites and the only reason you prove unpopular with some 'mainstream' masons, imo, is that you ask questions they would prefer to ignore. Keep asking them, I have benefited greatly from trying to answer the questions you have asked me. Thank you most sincerely for that. I consider Paul and yourself my Bros in every way. Maybe when they ban the burqa elsewhere masons will allow their women to show themselves. I didn't say that Look on the bright side, its a good thing that Politics, Defence Forces, Science, Medicine, Academia, Local and International Aid groups have not so restricted themselves.

the future there is also now and present also past.. its hard just to imagine how, a mind there wouldnt last.. Ever wondered what the difference is between rabid fans at a football match or boxing match and the old Roman forum days? We don't kill as many on the sportsfield, but we more than make up for that on the battlefield. I think the only reason we can't remember our previous lives is that we are feted to relive the same set of circumstances until we learn to make better choices and achieve better outcomes for all. Learn to really care what happens to others. In Freemasonry the ceremony of closing the lodge reminds me of this. "After every Bro has had his due".

now thats something to live by.. it may also have something to do with it not being stored in our brain but on a different data carrier that is not (or rarely) compatible with normal memory retrieval methods..

lol, thnx..
thats invalid.. lol
there have been many questions, some better then others.. most of the better ones r still not resolved..
i agree u have the right to set whatever rules u see fit as long as theyre not punishable by law.. (i.e. putting as a rule ull have to kill your neighbor before u can join is a def. nono..) i wonder what the law in the medieval era was like..
as long as they dont recognise each other as equally masonic, there is a difference beyond what sex is allowed to join..
not all discrimination is illegal, nor is all discrimination an issue.. i admit i didnt xpress myself clearly there..
here is the question as id formulate it now: what influence did (and does) "mainstream" christian doctrines (r.c.) have on the position of women in the world and mfm in particular?
p.s. this post was a response to a post by henka, which was removed..

The Roman church opposes Freemasonry so its influence is more subtle. Blavatsky maintained that Jesuits had penetrated Masonry and generated spurious degrees to keep the brethren busy but ineffective.
The bias against women emerges early in the Jewish tradition and it has been argued that the Old Testament has been carefully written to reduce the female role. This probably occurred after the departure of Shekinah - the consort of Jehovah - who stayed for some time after his departure.

As a Roman Catholic female Freemason and 30 year member of the Theosophical Society I .... ;D do tell.. whats your take on this? Societies and women? Catholic Church (and others) are paying the price for imbalances in their policies. Forced celibacy, paedophilia, birth control issues all point to imbalanced policy. Worse still there is an inexperienced hierarchy making decisions which change the lives of millions of their members, oftentimes with devastating consequences. As Pope John Paul I once famously asked, "which is worse birth control or the millions who suffer and die each year of starvation?" A pity he was dispatched so soon. (Apart from that, as a 7 yr old I did not appreciate being told that if I missed a mass on Sunday I would spend all eternity in hell - even a kid can figure out that is not fair). Freemasonry - male craft masons at social functions are a dead loss for the most part. They do not know how to, or do not want to, interact with women. They are too busy patting each other on the back on ritual well done, visits they have made to other lodges, upcoming positions of importance, etc etc. Freemasonry - mixed.. I am assuming we have no celibates, or paedophile and birth control issues (we don't fancy each other ;D ) and the men and women talk to each other quite naturally. So far, so good. Theosophical Society - tend to sit around and talk too much, they do tend to have more women than men, they do have control issues as does every society of people, but the TS library and some of its more talented people taught me everything I needed to know so I could begin to understand the Catholic church, Freemasonry, and other belief systems. I am grateful to the Catholic church for introducing me to the GA. I am grateful to the Theosophical society for some insight into the GA's Plan of the Work. I am grateful to Freemasonry for giving me a work schedule for getting that Work done. I believe that the world still needs the Church, the Society, the Temple etc... people tend to cluster in groups that suit them at the time. Everyone moves on eventually, death being the ultimate prod. .. you asked ..

i understand.. do u think its possible that what group suits them largely depends on their upbringing? (parents / culture)

To a point. We might well ask though what draws us to the parents we have and the culture we find ourselves in.
What we sow so shall we reap. What you do unto others you do unto your selves. Who do they say that I am? -Jesus Visiting the iniquity of the father unto the third to the fourth generation The three overseers Him that overcomes will I make a pillar in the temple of my God, and he shall go out no more

Why would God keep making new people, when He can keep the ones he's got ... asked by a 3 yr old.

I am grateful to the Catholic church for introducing me to the GA. Would you like to say what it is the Roman theology or ritual that connected you to the GAOTU?

Would you like to say what it is the Roman theology or ritual that connected you to the GAOTU? Thinking about it now it was probably the ritual, I remember not liking sermons and some of the people delivering them. The bishop was a nasty pasty, used to belittle people in front of the congregation if they walked in late etc, unloved by all.
