For my wolf girl

I have been writing poetry for her since I was a child. She has been in my heart, and a part of me all of my life. For those not aware, I have a spirit spouse, whom I share a heart with, who is half-wolf, half human. She looks like a "werewolf" but is a person- like you and me, she doesn't change or shape-shift. She is always a wolf girl. Our history is not perfect, we have a lot of struggles, and at one point, I guess we had come to blows with one another. Fangs flashed, blood was drawn... On both sides.
But today, as I strive to become the man she feels safe with... The man who wants to give everything to show her that she is loved... I want to write this for her.
But today, as I strive to become the man she feels safe with... The man who wants to give everything to show her that she is loved... I want to write this for her.
Out in the cold, you see me
Shivering, shaking, without your coat of fur
Too afraid to approach the man who has wronged you
I see you... Quivering in the snow
I run into my home, grab a blanket
Then, i run to you as you, run from me...
But you are cold- your feet are not swift- and I turn to face you
But you are cold- your feet are not swift- and I turn to face you
For a moment, your eyes go dark, your lips flash those teeth that once tore me to shreds...
But I look up, and into your eyes
"Wait." I say, as the wind howls around us
The flurries of snow, chilling me to my bone- and your naked body
So used to the darkness
Shaking, the cold getting to me- or is it fear?
"Wait." i whisper, once more, and hold the blanket out to you.
Your heavy golden eyes fall on the wool blanket
Your heavy golden eyes fall on the wool blanket
Then, you look into my eyes.
"Come with me." I say, lifting the blanket up to you.
You hesitate- but you would not be here unless a part of you wanted to be with me.
"Please." I say- with all my heart.
You take the blanket as your body begins to shiver- the tiredness creeping in
You take the blanket as your body begins to shiver- the tiredness creeping in
You snort, clearing your nose- testing my scent, testing the air
What will I do? To the woman who was once my enemy.
But kindness, is all that is in my eyes.
You scoff, and turn your back to me, and I gently- braving your wrath- drape it around your back.
You scoff, and turn your back to me, and I gently- braving your wrath- drape it around your back.
Gently, slowly, I stand next to you, and gently- you feel my hand on your back.
I guide you to my home, the light, shining in the darkness- we are in for a snow storm
Standing at the threshold, you stop. Your large wolf's head, turns to me
Again, your eyes probe me- and fear flashes in them.
Will the man you harmed... harm you?
Will the man you harmed... harm you?
"Please." I say, after I swallow... How is this a good idea?
I look into your dark, golden eyes, and see such turmoil
I look into your dark, golden eyes, and see such turmoil
I see the obsidian claws jutting out from your fingertips
The claws on your toes
The bear-like muzzle
And the aura of anger.
"If you stay out here, you will die." I plead.
"If you stay out here, you will die." I plead.
You scoff- but you know that I am right. The darkness has robbed you of your fur
Quivering, your ears fall back in ritual submission
You raise a foot, then step inside my home.
Shaking- not entirely from the cold- I shut the door behind you.
I stoke the fire, and put another log in the stove. I set a teapot on it, and prepare you some coco.
I guide your naked body, just under my blanket- to a chair I created just for you.
There is a hole, in the back, for your tail.
Your eyes are so conflicted... Your soul is in turmoil- your mind, regrets everything- even coming here.
There is a hole, in the back, for your tail.
Your eyes are so conflicted... Your soul is in turmoil- your mind, regrets everything- even coming here.
But I saw you... Far off... In the trees... I knew... My other half was here.
"May I... Touch you?" I ask, softly- and clear my heart of lust.
"May I... Touch you?" I ask, softly- and clear my heart of lust.
Again, the scoff- looking away.
Gently... I take your hand- it is as cold as ice...
As cold as your heart.
I massage it... Until the warmth returns to it. Looking into your eyes, you look away, at some book shelf, your ears, perking back up.
I hand you the coco, and say- "It is hot. Be careful. Might want to let it cool a little."
You scoff and drink it anyway, and shoot me a cold glare.
I nod. "Okay"
Your skin, as black as night, from the caverns...
I hold my hands up- a gesture of disarmament, and you look away
As cold as your heart.
I massage it... Until the warmth returns to it. Looking into your eyes, you look away, at some book shelf, your ears, perking back up.
I hand you the coco, and say- "It is hot. Be careful. Might want to let it cool a little."
You scoff and drink it anyway, and shoot me a cold glare.
I nod. "Okay"
Your skin, as black as night, from the caverns...
I hold my hands up- a gesture of disarmament, and you look away
A single tear trickles down your face, and you scoff at it.
"I will not be your dog." Your voice penetrates my mind as clear as day
"Will you be my friend?" I ask, softly, the words coming out of my mouth.
"I will not be your dog." Your voice penetrates my mind as clear as day
"Will you be my friend?" I ask, softly, the words coming out of my mouth.
"What choice do I have?" You say, glaring at me, then looking away.
Gently, I take your hand, after you set the cup down, and place it on my heart
Gently, I take your hand, after you set the cup down, and place it on my heart
My eyes never leave yours
You can fight it- but we share a heart!
I probe your aura for your desires- And you are hungry.
"Let me make you something to eat."
You balk, but the meat I seasoned does not escape your large, black nose.
I watch you eat it- and your shoulders drop with a sigh
I watch you eat it- and your shoulders drop with a sigh
Your ears, fall back once again
I guide you to a bed- separate from mine- so you are not uncomfortable with me.
Your hateful eyes, stare into mine- but I touch your face
Your hateful eyes, stare into mine- but I touch your face
So softly, so gently, my fingertips barely touching your skin
"You are safe here." I whisper- and withdraw my hand.
"Am I safe with you?" I ask, the tall, muscular wolf-girl.
"Am I safe with you?" I ask, the tall, muscular wolf-girl.
You scoff- "I have no choice."
You pull the blanket into your body and look away, your lips in a frown
You pull the blanket into your body and look away, your lips in a frown
But... Your eyes fall, as you emit another sigh
And hope I do not notice
Closing your eyes, with another sigh, you lay on the bed
For a moment, I see the gratitude in your eyes
Before anger washes it away
But it is okay.
To see them sparkle- if even for a moment
But it is okay.
To see them sparkle- if even for a moment
Makes my heart sing.
I get to my knees, by your bed.
"I want you to know something." I say, softly, as the fire dances with your eyes
"What." You grunt out, eying me from under the blankets.
"You're beautiful." I whisper
You close your eyes...
You close your eyes...
I go to my bed...
And we both fall asleep
And we both fall asleep
Starting our new life
Not as two halves, separate
But as a whole being
United by the perfect resonance of our beating hearts.
