I thought it might be interesting to share our stories here.
My father-in-law, a find upstanding gentleman mason, told me that women couldn't join! So I decided to find out all about it - I liked what I saw and it dovetailed with my Theosophical leanings and friends. My husband is also a Freemason and has been one far longer than me. He was not happy when I joined our order, we are still not (officially) recognised by the Grand Lodge of SA and NT. He now wonders why women are still banned from mainstream Masonry.
I have been a mason now for nearly 20 years and have found it an immeasurable aid in evolving my consciousness. It took a little time but with perseverance and effort I did find that it does indeed offer many great and invaluable privileges to its Brn.
There is a nice story attached to my being a Freemason too.. I am gifted in the dream area, I often receive information via that avenue. I guess I had been a mason for 10 years (?) when a dream I had prior to my joining masonry sprang to mind and its significance hit me.
I had dreamt of the top of a column, the capital, which was the most beautiful and intricately carved piece or work I had ever seen. It was breath takingly beautiful.
When I woke my thought process was - if I can dream it I can design it. A second or two was all it took to reverse that thought!
Now as I look back over a very interesting life, Freemasonry (pure) is one of the most beautiful of my experiences ... and it has made me stronger and wiser (...I know, I still have a way to go
Well, I had no idea what I was doing really - my Father In Law (at the time) was the Junior Warden of the Duke Of Leinster (363 irish Constitution) - still holds its Irish Warrent, only one left in Australia.
I joined out of interest and a mis-guided understanding that it could help me in my career at siome time - talk about following all the actions of someone who only read things in papers !
Anyway, after being Initiated, Passed and Raised in the Irish Constution, I left Adelaide for Interstate - Business - and, well to cut a long story short, parted ways with the Lodge and my FIL. It was only after meeting my current Partner - Roslyn - that I had a revised sense of energy that warrented me getting back into the Lodge. Roslyn is a practicing Druid now, been down many paths previously, ie Wicca etc, however during many intense conversations we both started to understand the similarities between our different views/paths and the Exoteric/Esoteric similarities.
So, ended up going back to Lodge. Wanted to look outside the Craft degrees though and ended up in the KT's. Met a really wonderful Gentleman who became my Masonic Mentor and encouraged me to join all the others Septs and Degrees (wow, expensive !). Nevertherless this Gentleman had a reason for this, he wanted me to understand more about what was going on and the journey I was taking with all of the different Rituals etc.
This Gentleman was W.B. John Priede.
John then got me along to SA Lodge Of Research and also the SRIA Study Groups and well, that's where my story really begins.

Synchronicity Paul? I was just speaking about our 'other' mind the SD (?) on another thread. Do you think this may be an example of someone/something bearing a command (request) from 'the East'?
I know very little about the Druids, Philip. Any chance you could tell us a little about them. Start a thread on it in the Esoteric - Non Masonic Section is you feel so inclined. The more we know about everything the more likely we are to approach Understanding.
Every member here is encouraged to do likewise if they have a particular Esoteric interest.

Philip - a gifted friend of mine told me that when John died he took off like a bird. All goes well with him it seems. John was/is a special friend of Adelaide Lodge #406.
