I do believe in fact that quite a lot of couples are unable to reproduce for various reasons and are thus turning to IVF programs in order to have a family. This kind of research should shed some light on the matter.

I wonder more now, whether a split evolutionary path for humans is in progress
Arguably Earth humans have yet to see evolution. As far as I can see, every proposed evolutionary line has missing links. After 170 years, there is no apparent evidence of evolution.
Still, in terms of time paths there are junctions and choices. Overtly the current tendency to global dictatorship is one such choice point. The relatively frequent mass demonstrations seem to indicate that populations are choosing freedom.
On another level, the spiritual beings that incarnate in human bodies, when they reach minimum standards are entitled to reincarnate in more advanced systems.
