A study of the Tree of Life will greatly aid one's understanding of 'the secrets' and 'peculiar morality' of Freemasonry. An in depth study will take a lifetime (or three) - however even a casual recreational approach to the subject will see the earnest seeker recognising patterns and ideas they come across in their lodge/temple work.
Quabbala (also Cabbala, Kabbala) is a very ancient and complex system of Jewish mysticism - however there are Christian and other equivalents, the various spellings reflecting this.
This is one of the first sites I came across when I decided to 'dip my toe' into Cabbalistic waters.
Have some fun with it. Just click on anything and it will take you on a magic carpet ride. Hopefully those with more experience will help guide those of us will less experience. So don't be shy with the questions.
I had an experience once which demonstrated that Yesod is the counterbalance of Daath, the Abyss. I don't fully understand that yet, maybe the more learned here might explain that to me.
Also, talking about patterns, I note that we (Malkuth) and the Father (Keter) are equidistant from Tipareth (usually assoc with the Jesus figure). This in turn reminds me of the Prodigal Son story in the Bible... the part where when the Prodigal decides he has had enough and heads for 'home' the Father goes out to meet him on the road (which is straight and narrow). They meet half way. Is this an example of bringing heaven to earth and vice versa?
I am just trying to give examples here of how one may better understand lots of things by studying the Tree of Life.
Our birth is but a sleep and a forgetting…trailing clouds of glory do we come from God, who is our home -Wordsworth
As you can imagine there are some distortions in the linear ToL as it fits the reality.
The sephira are testable on the ground. For example Tipharet anchors at Broken Hill - although the residents seemed not to notice when I was there long ago.
There are of course other depictions of the ToL such as the menorah
Notice there are 10 "lumps" on each side - potentially indicating the sephira of the light and dark trees
But the linear tree seems to appear on the landscape of continents and islands
We have discussed Broken Hill (my home town) before on another forum, I can attest that there is a different energy there. (Just a little aside - take a look at one of the older lodges at Silverton just outside Broken Hill. Silverton marks the beginning of the Mundi Mundi Plains, where they filmed Mad Max)
does anyone have a reference where I can look at a tree of life overlay with a map of Oz? I've looked at the web but my search string can't be any good!

I very much doubt that the mapping of the ToL on to Australia is available on Google.
It took me a month or more to work out in meditation
