The argument seems to be that while Jewish Kabbalists may use Jacob's Ladder in a practical sense, that has not be the case in Freemasonry - except for brethren who have been trained in the Kabbalah.
Is this part of the loss of the genuine secrets?

No. I the case of Jacob's Ladder, your strained and contrived theory is an anachronism and has a different significance. Use of Jacob's Ladder is one of the secrets of the Kabbalah and teachers are very fussy about teaching that. It was also taught by the Masons of the Golden Dawn but they too were fussy about whom they initiated. Still from what you write you seem to claim to able to distinguish the genuine secrets of Masonry from the genuine secrets of the Kabbalah. An impressive claim.

This is a common statement that some who make it make in error. often people ignore evidence that goes against either their personal beliefs or their careers (eg when a client with an agenda is paying for test results - and people want to keep the client - resulting in selective presentation of test results from repeated testing which is then marketed), even in science iirc the chap who first counted the number of genes miscounted by one, and even though the evidence was clear to even 1st year students no one dared say so due to the chaps reputation, so the fallacy continued until his death. Often one generation or mover and shaker has to give way through father time to allow the next generation to move things forward, at which time the plentiful evidence that was conveniently ignored suddenly becomes accepted wisdom.

This is a common statement that some who make it make in error. If you believe me to be in error, back up your allegation with evidence. You should know me well enough by now to know that if I specifically meant you I would have used your name. My point was the general one that in this world, in all walks of life, including science, and the likes of drugs and make up testing, evidence might get ignored, as other considerations take precedence. As you know when I think you are erring I say so - along with my reasoning eg UGLEs primary tenet. In this case however it was just the general point that evidence is not always that useful due to relevant bits getting ignored for the reasons that I stated above.

One of the forms used for teaching Jacob's Ladder is the Tree of Life. And we know that the ToL fits on to the landscape at various scales - from local to continental at least. This then suggests that the ascent of Jacob's Ladder can be stimulated by a sacred journey across the landscape.
This is reflected in the statement that a Freemason's lodge extends from E to W and N to S.

As the human backs into the Tree, the Point within the Circle is above the head, the Point within the Triangle is above the right shoulder and the Point within the Square is above the left shoulder.

So the LH Pillar on the ToL is the Pillar of Mercy ?
Do Qabalists argue about the RH and the LH? ie backing in or fronting up.
Does the same problem occur with regard to the Pillars of KS Temple?
The Pillar topped with the celestial globe would represent Chokmah I would assume.

The Pillar topped with the celestial globe would represent Chokmah I would assume. I am not a Qabalistic scholar - being on the experiential line. I find it natural to back into the Tree so that Right pillar (when seen from the front) is against my left arm. My logical preference would be to put the Point within the Triangle on Chokmah but it does not seem to want to go there so I suspect that the theory, as taught in public, is incomplete. The pillars of the symbolic KST, when I interact in a visual image, seem to me to be as going through a portal with B on the left and J on the right. Chokmah is associated with the zodiac, being the first manifestation of Creation. Note however that the Tree exists in 4 worlds so that there are 4 Chokmahs, each on its own plane and connected to all the other Chokmahs by resonance.

Interestingly the ladder is quite peripheral here and not shown as the means to the Blazing Star. How could that understanding have been lost? There is a beehive and in that regard I note that in the Eleusinian mysteries, the lesser officers were referred to as bees. While the beehive has been retained in Masonry, the origin of the term seems to have been lost and now explained by moralising about (female) worker bees.

Here is another version The thing in the middle is a heart, and the depiction appears to be French.

Here is another version The thing in the middle is a heart, and the depiction appears to be French. That will be because such progress comes from your heart. Once you crack that forward progress is made in leaps and bounds.

Cracking the heart usually requires a lot of pain.

> Once you crack that Cracking the heart usually requires a lot of pain. Try backing this image onto the Tree of Life. The Pillar of Severity (Terrestrial Globe) would be the Red side and associated with trials and tribulations (pain) The Pillar of Mercy (Celestial Globe) would be the Blue side. Just coincidence I guess. But why are both Jesus and Mary usually depicted wearing red and blue garments?

Because they had to balance the two powers within them. We all have what I call the seeds of darkness (things that make you loose your temper etc) and the flame of light (love) inside us. In the case of Jesus, Mary and others, these were heightened and radiated more fully as shown in your illustration. Part of the challenge of acting as one of Gods representatives on Earth is that you have to balance both forces, for they can radiate out with immense energy. It is the same for each and every one of us, you, me, and the bloke next door, but in the case of Jesus and others sent by God the responsibility is much greater.

How about the red and blue here? Severity and Mercy. Note that we also have Wisdom and Beauty ... and the Sun tied up with .. Imagination? Any ideas on that one?

Jesus is placed in this place of Beauty in the Christian Cabala.. the Son/Sun meridian (a line of longitude ) This Beauty (of Heart) then ascends via Severity (pain and suffering and testing)to Wisdom (via Sirius ..?.. Hidden Knowledge). What an interesting ladder.
