In looking at the Tarot cards recently, one of the cards almost jumped out at me. Ordinarily I would have pass it by, because that wasn't the one I wanted. However, I've noticed that Paul and Lorr seem to follow threads or hints that just come to them. So, I returned to that card and merely looked at it. It was amazing how that key helped solve the philosophical problem I was dealing with.
Since then I've watched and listened to thoughts and impressions that seem to come from outside. Often the thread will lead back to something I've read, or something I was thinking about. Not always, but often enough that I think the administrators may have hit upon something useful.
I hope I'm not revealing a secret these folks were keeping to themselves. Or, perhaps, everyone knows it and I'm the last to discover it.

Well done. Life speaks to those who listen.
>I've watched and listened to thoughts and impressions that seem to come from outside.
It is an essential initiatory skill to learn to distinguish external from internal thoughts and impressions.
Having distinguished an external impulse it is important to evaluate it. Not all incoming signals are of the same quality or from the same source.
>I hope I'm not revealing a secret these folks were keeping to themselves.
It is not a secret but does indicate that the work of the FC is proceeding.

It's GREAT fun stepnwolf... except I have discovered that Life has a great sense of humour which I sometimes don't appreciate at the time.

Or, perhaps, everyone knows it and I'm the last to discover it. You have travelled well stephwolf. Few people know this, for it is only something you can know. Once you really get to grips with this you will find keys and signposts everywhere hidden amongst the nitty gritty of your daily life - everything - commuting - shopping - hobbies - little idle chats - in libraries - etc, its all there hidden in the plain sight of your daily grind. Unwravelling it is a truly wonderful experience. Enjoy. As LorrB suggests value our dreams, they can be quite enabling especially when you can smell the odours in the air and see the wear on the carpet threads!! Just now I have one of these about aliens/ufos which might have just proven me to be mentally unstable or going mad!! (I emailed it to someone who used to deal with such things in his dayjob in my country [yes such jobs do really exist though sadly few and far between] - sadly it is the sort of thing that even if I am right I probably will never find out). Enjoy the journey stephwolf, keep at it and you will hopefully see the real hidden beauty of life unwravel before you.

It takes a long time to settle down the internal noise so that external signals can be perceived. And then the external signals need to be decoded and verified.
Long ago, having grown up in a hilly city where bikes are not much used, I learned to ride a bike in Scotland at the end of winter with ice on the road so that it was most difficult to walk except by sliding the feet. I was wobbling along on the bike and had the thought: you are going to fall off - not: I am going to fall off. Being trained in positive thinking I immediately rejected the thought and at once fell off. The same the next morning. By the third morning I was starting to learn. The thought came and I thought: that is a warning and was very careful and did not fall off.
Ever after that I was attentive to such "negative" thoughts and shortly after was driving on a narrow winding road coming up to a blind corner. The thought came: this is a dangerous corner. Being well trained by then I braked sharply and immediately a car came around the corner on the wrong side of the road. If I had not braked there would have been a collision - and me in a borrowed car.
I used to do metal work at the time and was often prompted when the metal was about to break.
So who or what was training me?

So who or what was training me? Excellent question, Paul, that has me thinking. If the question is "who," the answer may be easier, but the "what" seems to me to be more interesting. Presumably you are in some Master/Chela relationship, whether the Master has revealed himself or not. And there's your answer! Going out further afield, is your teacher the Higher Self, defined in Wikipedia as the "eternal, omnipotent, conscious, and intelligent being, who is one's real self," where all knowledge resides? How that specific knowledge is communicated is another matter. Personal preferences want to ask "what" does the training, but I can't find a satisfactory answer. It seems that modern science prefers a mechanistic explanation and I am drawn to that. I am drawn to the idea of Teilhard de Chardin that we and the Universe are drawn into a state of greater complexity, part of which may be the mastery of all states of being, including your bicycle. Just a thought.

So how would we test such hypotheses? Or are we speculative?

So how would we test such hypotheses? Or are we speculative? Definitely speculative, perhaps unfortunately. Ideas in themselves are interesting. This is a bit like the theoretical physicist, who may create an unlikely, unprovable universe, but does it for the pleasure of it. He just may uncover "truth" in the process. In that regard I am also reminded of Nataraja, the Lord Shiva, whose dance destroys a worn-out universe and prepares the way for Brahma, the Creator. One wonders whether to the dancer the dance is more important than its consequences. It might be said that I have no talent for the practical. Since I have infinity to work on it, I don't mind taking it slowly.

Well, I've hit a snag in this listening & watching! It's difficult to distinguish the important and the mere static on the line. Earlier this morning I was reading the posts here and suddenly I saw in my mind's eye the following:
A procession or parade moved down a tall dark passageway which appeared to be underground. The ceiling was, I'd say, about 30 ft. from the floor and met the walls at sharp 90° angles. The tunnel was dark except for the parade, but I could see hints of writing on the walls.
The parade was rather raucous and I could hear music that accompanied the dancing. Women were waving yellow ribbons in time to the music. And yet all around them was this gloom that was almost solid.
They had to stop the progression down the corridor because an enormous mound of earth blocked their way. Marchers in the parade ran left and right to see if there was a way around that mountain of earth. Failing that, they decided to tunnel through. With all their efforts they were able to remove only a small quantity of dirt.
Then I sensed a voice calling, “Climb! Climb!” A portion of the roof moved to one side and I saw the rays of the sun illuminating the summit of what now appeared to be a mountain. The climb appeared impossible and the whole vision disappeared.
I think I understand the main points of the vision, if I can call it that. My question is, is it authentic or is it merely a projection of the unconscious, reflecting what is going on in there at the moment?

> is it authentic or is it merely a projection of the unconscious
You can create experiments to test the vision.
For example if you take the vision as an energy field and push it close to various land masses you may see if one matches. You might try Britain, South America, Egypt, Himalayas, etc.
Another experiment is to take your interpretation of the vision, visualise that interpretation as written on a piece of paper and push the paper close to the vision energy field and see what happens.
You can devise any number of energy experiments.

You have no idea how much I enjoyed this post stepnwolf.. it made my day! month, possible even year! For a little while now I have been overwhelmed by onerous work - half of which is Masonic. Sometimes it crossed my mind, who knows, who cares, just chuck it all in - how simple would life be then... you know the thoughts we all get from time to time. This morning on the way in to work I was thinking about posting about how God might speak to us - whether on this thread or the God Speaks thread I hadn't decided. The post was going to be about the practical experiment of taking notice of what anyone says to you for a whole day, and making note of words or phrases that really amplify themselves in your mind. (God hasn't got a mouth, maybe He speaks to us via other people?) I remember to do this every now and then, just for fun, and I have AMAZING results. An hour ago I thought I would do the experiment again myself just to see if it was still a valid test - then I open up the forum and the first thing I see is your post stepnwolf. It did make me laugh out loud. I will tell you what your experience said to me... personally, in the post below.

Well, I've hit a snag in this listening & watching! It's difficult to distinguish the important and the mere static on the line. Earlier this morning I was reading the posts here and suddenly I saw in my mind's eye the following:
The trigger for the experience was this forum. A lot thought provoking material appears here, much of which is way out in left field, how to distinguish the wheat from the chaff? What is important or means much to one person is or is not important for me?
A procession or parade moved down a tall dark passageway which appeared to be underground. Underground, encased by earthly elements? Tall dark passageway, you know where you are going, you can see that there is a lack of light (darkness visible), but the ceiling is high you are not compacted there is room to move - upwards.
The ceiling was, I'd say, about 30 ft. from the floor and met the walls at sharp 90 deg angles. The tunnel was dark except for the parade, but I could see hints of writing on the walls.
30 degrees and the time is midnight? 90 degree angle is a key of sorts Might hints of writing on the walls indicate knowledge surfacing?
The parade was rather raucous and I could hear music that accompanied the dancing. Women were waving yellow ribbons in time to the music. And yet all around them was this gloom that was almost solid.
Despite the modern world with all its raucous distractions and entertainments, the subconscious (women) are waving yellow ribbons which signify Lest We Forget. Remember, keep in mind.
They had to stop the progression down the corridor because an enormous mound of earth blocked their way. Marchers in the parade ran left and right to see if there was a way around that mountain of earth. Failing that, they decided to tunnel through. With all their efforts they were able to remove only a small quantity of dirt.
With our best efforts we cannot hope to change the whole world, but we can remove some of the obstacles and clear the way a little.
Then I sensed a voice calling, Climb! Climb!
Climb Jacob's Ladder, climb the Tree of Life, at the very least don't look out, look up.
A portion of the roof moved to one side and I saw the rays of the sun illuminating the summit of what now appeared to be a mountain. The Dormer Window of the middle chamber.
The climb appeared impossible and the whole vision disappeared.
There was no more to tell.
The only way out is to ascend towards the light not matter what is going on around you. If you keep digging your way through the tunnel you WILL reach a point where the Way will open up to you. The story of the Prodigal Son - it is only when the Son decides to head home that the Father goes out along the Way to meet him.
I think I understand the main points of the vision, if I can call it that. My question is, is it authentic or is it merely a projection of the unconscious, reflecting what is going on in there at the moment?
Don't estimate the power of the unconscious/subconscious - it keeps your body alive for starters, and there are those cultures and mystery schools which teach that the only way to the All is via the subconscious¡K. It could be related to the SW in a lodge (who carries out the orders of the Master).

>The Dormer Window of the middle chamber.
Not all visions are directly symbolic. For example, since Existence is multi-threaded (like computers) it is possible to have data exchange between threads (time lines).
The data exchange may need translation and this can be in the form of substituting related imagery - hence a symbolic representation of a physical reality may occur.

Well, I don't know what to say exactly, but thank you for your encouragement, you two . And, yes, I probably would not have paid any attention to these images except that the forum kept drawing my attention back to them.
It's going to take a while to digest what the administrators have written. It does seem that images of this kind don't serve much purpose unless there is a way to translate them into a meaningful form, which Lorr has done.
My primary calling now seems to be healing through prayer. In the facility where I live, we are all old and many of us are ill and in pain. We call it God's waiting room. While we wait it would be nice if we could build an atmosphere of peace and serenity, which in today's world seems very difficult to do. But we do what we can.
Meanwhile I find inspiration in the forum that took me in, so to speak: a yank who can't even whistle Waltzing Matilda.

where I live, we are all old and many of us are ill and in pain. We call it God's waiting room. Stephwolf, there really is nothing to be afraid off. I know. A few years back I nearly died due to an infected cut (though at least one psychic thinks that people tried to kill me [if true they must be a bit put out]). Anyhow when the moment came, in hospital, when I felt my body shut down on me bit by bit and the pain increased dramaticly, I sensed no fear. Well none beyond wondering if I had "done enough" and that fear was soon put to rest. I went all the way through what would be described as an ancient Egyptian judgement scene and passed, then when I could not believe this I started to question the gods in disbelief that I had passed and was now able to walk with them (it would take me to argue with gods!!!) And to keep me happy they then sent me through a more Christain white tunnel scenario and I got all the way to the gates of heaven and it was so peaceful. I so so wanted to cross over and having the way opened to me it was a mighty difficult choice to return. But I have no regrets doing so. Got me an immediate transfer to a specialist surgery ward the following day!!! (Though fortunately I then recovered sufficiently not to require surgery.) It took me a couple of years to recover fully but it has left me with a unique look at what happens when you are close to death. It really is nothing to worry about. At least with pain you know you are alive (my wife has been in chronic pain for 15 or so years) and when you are alive you can set yourelf the task of investigating the hidden mysteries of nature and science and the eternal questions. And even I can tell you that you are doing rather well stephwolf. You never know Stephwolf God might ask you to return again. It does happen and you would be amazed how quickly you recover when it does. I felt as bright as a bunny just a couple of hours later. Though as I say it did take a couple of years to fully recover my strength. Was actually quite an enabling experience. And for those who think this nonsenses I know brain chemicalls going dolally in a fever spike fuelled by hospital antibiotics (and a lot of them). You have one key thing now that you might not have had during a busy life - time to think, reflect and do inner work. And you are travelling well stephwolf.

I must check to see if I can find it on YouTube.
