I first read this book a decade ago and my Amazon review was simple: “ If you are into esoterics it is a good read

And if you are not it probbaly wont make much sense to you. It offers an interesting perspective on our world. For me I loved reading it. If your guts are telling you to read it, read it, and if your guts are telling you that it is a bit mad leave it.”
On Paul’s inspiration let’s see what I, and we, make of it now.
Prologue
A short sharp five pages. In essence:
1. Our world periodically is enlightened by cosmic visitors.
2. We then repeatedly throughout history have periods of illumination, inevitability followed by periods of darkness, when wise teachings are destroyed and those that remain are hidden.
3. The cycle repeats, (at least) from 18th Dynasty Egypt (a time very close to my heart) to 1958 (when this book was written).
For me this is interesting on a number of fronts:
A. My affection for 18th Dynasty Egypt. I am fairly sure that I had a past life then. And I know from energy in the British museum that a mummified priest wasn’t so happy on seeing me walking this planet at this time. I wonder if it was a Priest of Amun?
B. I have this inner knowing that the darkness that is currently engulfing our world (money addiction, desire for power and fear of losing it etc) can be overcome. If the will was there. But sadly we seem to be a bit stuck, as evidenced in the political and corporate worlds. (Extremism and say do gaps eg on social responsibility and work life balance).
C. It confirms my assessment that the best way forward is by further positive intervention from above to give us the leg up we need. Perhaps by helping us overcome addiction a bit better.
The author suggests that we are on a path from beasts to gods. To me we sadly seem to be backtracking. Would not like to be the shoes of those powers that be that are enabling this, if as the author suggests the Lion is awakening. They might have some explaining to do come Judgement day when Father Time and Mother Nature come calling. Having been through Judgement myself though, I know that it is nothing to fear, and if I can pass it, anyone can.
I get the impression that the author (like many New Ageists) thinks that completing the circle is a quick progress, whereas I think that it is the work of generations. Though we have, I think, passed a critical time point, but it is what it is.
Tundrawolf, Paul, anyone else, what do you make of the prologue.
Added
Interestingly, I mentally backtracked to that moment in time in the British Museum when I was stopped in my tracks by that mummy and I looked deeply into into eye sockets. I was new to this, a bit scared, a bit confused, bewildered even. I now find myself mentally standing there (at that time not today) feeling his rage, and me slyly smiling thanking him for unwittingly helping me progress, and realising that my esoteric (not sure of right word: power; authority) is somewhat greater than his. Yet knowing that he has previously harmed me. Fascinating.
