"The Great Architect builds eternally. It is senseless to suppose that certain parts of the Universe are completed and remain static. A great deal is made of the term evolution, but people have absolutely no conception of this process in its actuality. There has been much argument about the social structure, but it always has been presumed that human society exists in something inflexible and finite. The stories of the Deluge and of the glacial period are regarded almost as merely symbolic, and it is not proper even to speak of Atlantis, despite the testimonies of the Greek writers. One can see how the human consciousness evades everything that threatens its established comfort. Likewise, the concept of evolution is turned into an abstraction, thus not disturbing the consciousness of the petrified heart in the least. But does not the heavenly vault evoke thoughts about eternal motion? Only through such evolutionary concepts can one absorb the beauty of the earthly pilgrimage as the sojourn for ascent. The very briefness of the path should not disturb one; on the contrary, it should give one joy, as does the rotation of the sun. It is urgently necessary to expound to what extent evolution is incessantly in the hands of the Great Architect of the Universe. One should feel that the planet is in space, just as seamen know that the vast ocean is beneath their ship. At first seamen were terrified by this suspension over an abyss, but reality and experience accustom them to this truth. Every inhabitant of the planet is on a similar ship - below him is the abyss. The seamen cannot depend entirely upon their ship and scientific calculations, if they could there would be no shipwrecks. Astronomy knows a few heavenly bodies, but it does not know the starting point of the comets, and it does not anticipate the gigantic meteors. Only upon their obvious appearance are people notified, The destruction of entire worlds is sometimes noticed, but more often it occurs without attracting any attention. Astronomy is a night watchman! But what about the events taking place by day? Thus, we observe only approximately half of that which is evident. How much that is unexpected is concealed from the sleeping heart!" Fiery World - Book 1 (1933) - 408. www.reversespins.com/sunspots.html

The architect symbolism is perhaps a bit limiting. Does the GAOTU inhabit the form after building it - like a human?

Architects create in their minds, builders build. Do builders live in the buildings they build? Not usually.
If we are created in the Mind of the Great Architect, then we are part of His Mind.. ?

Authors often say that when they create a character in a story, that character often takes on a life of its own and they watch to see what happens.

Hmm. Perhaps a human builds a body to live in. Does the GAOTU live through the universe? As above so below?

I rather think that a human inhabits a body.

Consider the Gaia theory and how it might apply at the level of a universe. Is the universe alive? Who or what ensouls the universe?

Mystery and conundrum! I feel comfortable with the idea that the Deity, whatever that means, creates the universe, whatever that means, out of itself, whatever that means. It might be presumptuous on my part to ask how or why this happened or happens in the same way it would be for me to ask Einstein how relativity affects a boiling teapot. It seems the closer we approach the unknowable, the more our brains are confounded and humans create constructs to banish our ignorance. Angels dancing on the head of a pin may have disappeared from our consideration, but counting them may still be in vogue.

>The Great Architect builds eternally
What an awesome thought, LorrB. Is the building out or up or in or in all these directions? Physical forms are always changing on the physical plane, bringing with it new species. To bring about new species, cells have to be changed, organs adapted for other uses; even in the mineral kingdom conditions change minerals, like carbon into diamonds. This might be building out.
Using “as above so below,” I suspect that the building starts above, at a higher level of reality. I know little of thought forms and such, but is it possible that we can join in the creative process by our thoughts? For instance, to eradicate conflict we must think peace and not plan for war, to experience tranquility in our lives we shouldn't dwell in our confusion, but think peace (easier said than done). I'd say this is building up and then bringing it down into the physical.
What do we know about building inwardly? From the standpoint of the Architect, he is always creating inwardly out of his own being. And why should he bother? (note: “he” is useful but not totally accurate.) It's always dangerous to attribute human thoughts and feelings to the Infinite, but I seem to sense something akin to curiosity, an urge to realize his full potential as Creator, as Builder.
I may be way off the mark but as LorrB says: just a thought.

In the Old Testament there were many gods to choose from and St Paul sees the same in the New Testament.
On a more profound level there is Genesis 1:13 And God saw every thing that He had made, and, behold, it was very good.
The Jewish commentary notes that previous creations had occurred and that they were unbalanced and hence were dissolved but this creation was good and was allowed to remain.

Do you have any specific sense of your particular God?

.. Who or what ensouls the universe? If there is a great being (architect) that ensouls the universe then there must be cycles like in-breath and out-breath, life and death. Can such cycles can be seen in Masonry?

Awesome thread all! Been having fun reading it.
This thought had crossed my mind a few times. Like with breathing in and out, they are opposites. We know he constructs... So the opposite would be destruct. A cycle like build, destroy, rebuild, repeat, this also showing a type of evolution in how we would be left to understand him. I think we also are allowed to build off this structure, and why it might need to be rebuilt. We might see it as devastating but to the architect, its just what is needed to continue on the building. Like in construction there is a margin of error that is "good enough" for the building to continue, and then there is screw up where it must be torn down and redone.

Recently it has become obvious to me that the universal being not only has a light body but also a dark body and the two bodies are complementary in their expansion and contraction (in-breath and out-breath). If so, I deduce that dark forces have their proper place in the greater scheme and that most of our troubles here come from a temporary insufficiency of light and a temporary excess of darkness.

>I go prepare a new heaven and new earth
Perhaps that refers to the inner reality rather than the outer.
In my view more than a decade ago there was a reality change within the solar system and one of the effects was that Earth humans agreed that they were responsible for the ecosystems of the Earth.

In the time frame u mention Paul ... It does seem i hear a data signal packet from over the divide ... It was inbound or re caught by me on like the equinox of spring ... It cam in as like a one second whisper and started doing maneuvers seemed to unpack ... or unfold ... And presented like the miracle of Fatimid event the 3 young ladies experienced ... so it played out mentally and physically like ... closest description would be an 140 decibel horn or a light as bright as a few thousand suns ... or a wondering if one kicked a skunk during mating season or bit into scotch bonnet peppers ... or swallowed alka~seltzer tabs whole My guess is this is a replication sound bite going back to the creation played over and over in an endless loop ... Navy seals seem to be trained to hear this fragmentary sound and play it like done in the SEE stories of the Yellow Book and play the energy forward with an positive emotion and deploy creativity ... dedication ... love honor ,,, service to a higher calling than self will gone wild ... but for the greater good of the species and how to protect all loving kind souls without being too harsh on the ones who seem cruel or self serving / greedy / possessive / dominating to rude just cause they can get away with it As hard as this experience can be to explain, I would say you did excellent Fox. I just called it an explosion of thought, but it is physical too, and a lot more.

>Have u seen positive and negative things reality bend as you observe ...
I have seen/experienced a few physical events that were not in accordance with Newton's laws of motion.
I have also observed energy principles being applied on more subtle levels of existence, particularly the use of wave forms to cancel energy structures.
> It cam in as like a one second whisper and started doing maneuvers seemed to unpack ... or unfold ... closest description would be an 140 decibel horn or a light as bright as a few thousand suns ...
I have seen what I call "skill cubes". They are energy packages that establish new skills in the recipient. The packages appear to me as a cube. As an experiment I once created one for the meditation group so that they could see past blood lines - going back from themselves. It seemed to work pretty well.
I wonder if your "thousand suns" experience was the reaction in your light body to the incoming energy rather than that brightness being the intrinsic quality of the energy

If there is a great being (architect) that ensouls the universe then there must be cycles like in-breath and out-breath, life and death. Can such cycles can be seen in Masonry? Opening and closing the lodge could be seen as reflecting out-breath and in-breath. Sometimes this can be seen as an inner plane pavement that unfolds from a point of light in the center of the temple and that folds up at the close, whereupon the point of light disappears.

I can relate to both these points. The second one reminds me of the cube of space unfolding at the opening of the Lodge and folding again at the closing of the Lodge.
