Accidentally deleted by Paul - I must be more careful about clicking the quote rather than modify button
It is obvious that posts are being deleted without permission (for what ever excuse offered) and from what I've read, there has never been an apology offered for the damage being done.
It is also clear that postings here are no longer safe.

There is a point past which "skepticism" and "rationality" become a "madness' all on their own, and block one's progress. Crowley was like this; he would get a communication from a "higher being", and would proceed to doubt and question the entity again and again and AGAIN, until they got "fed up"with him and refused to have anything more to do with him!
Of course he had, at one point, summoned Beelzebub and his 49 servitors"[to attack Mathers] so maybe he had to be "on his guard" all his life after that, but STILL..there comes a point when one should just accept "what is"; if one is going to be pigheaded about the validity of phenomena one encounters, then just GO BACK to being a "muggle' and LEAVE the "esoteric" alone!
"Truth is the best spiritual practice in this the Black Aeon" Shri Ramakrishna Paramahansa
The difficulty for the skeptic is that skeptics tend not to be operative metaphysicists and hence have trouble conducting experiments to test metaphysical propositions.
Now it is possible to argue that that does not apply to Crowley, but my observation of his post mortem state was that he had not managed to transcend personal will (for all his assertions) and hence was unable to step outside the lower worlds in order to conduct objective experiments.
Summoning Beelzebub to attack Mathers is a pretty clear expression of personal will

It's been unreal -- Bye!
Hi Coach ... I can assure you that your post was not deleted on purpose. It is unfortunately the case that if either Paul or I mistakenly click in the wrong section and then the Enter key, things whoosh off into cyber space. Petergower accidentally deleted a whole 7 page thread of mine once on the MFoL I wanted to cry, and he wanted run away. We are still good mates to this day...
Hopefully, you will forgive our lack of experience sooner or later and re-engage. Your posts are thought provoking.

Wasn't Crowley famous for saying something or the other about Will? ... just found it - "Do what though wilt, shall be the whole of the Law"
I have a nagging feeling that the popularity of the book The Secret (and all those engaged in encouraging people to put The Law of Attraction into practice) is fuelled by a dark cloud. Not that those personalities involved might be aware of that. I just get a picture in my mind of the seedman dropping seed along the way that the seedman wants the chickens to follow.

The Secret et al concentrates of attracting good for self. Health, wealth, bigger house, grander car etc etc.
I still believe the saying "Seek ye first the Kingdom of Heaven and all else will be added unto you." Albeit, I don't believe that means sitting on the mountain contemplating one's navel (as I just posted on another thread). The Kingdom of Heaven is oftentimes found in the heart of another.
Oh well - have to admit... horse for courses. Maybe those that sit on mountains are holding the energies in balance so others benefit...
..mutter, mutter, so much to learn...

From what I can tell, you already have all you need, and are only confusing yourself by going off on tangents.
They say Japan was made by a sword. They say the old gods dipped a coral blade into the ocean, and when they pulled it out four perfect drops fell back into the sea, and those drops became the islands of Japan. I say, Japan was made by a handful of brave men. Warriors, willing to give their lives for what seems to have become a forgotten word: honor. -The Last Samurai
"When you forget the good and the non-good, the worldly life and the religious life, and all other dharmas, and permit no thoughts relating to them to arise, and you abandon body and mind—then there is complete freedom. When the mind is like wood or stone, there is nothing to be discriminated." Pai-chang Huai-hai (Hyakujõ Ekai, 720-814) (The Development of Chinese Zen After the Sixth Patriarch 63)

When I was 15 I was working in a big department store as a secretary. One day I was asked to takeover the switchboard for an hour. It was one of those huge cord an plug thingies you see in the old black and white movies (yes, I am that old). I was given a one minute lesson on how to operate it and left alone. All went well for about half an hour, but then all hell broke loose and it seemed to me that the whole board lit up at once, people wanted to be transferred to other lines, etc etc. I finally panicked, put both arms around the cords and pulled them all out in one foul swoop. It was an exhilarating feeling.
I still do that with esoteric work. It is exhilarating pulling the plug, to not have to worry about being attached to cords or cords being attached to you.
However - after a little while I feel the need to communicate to others and have others communicate with each other. Natural instinct, and if it is natural then I feel that it is what I need to be doing. My job this time round. Apart from all that - it is fun!

When the mind is like wood or stone, there is nothing to be discriminated.
Personally I do not wish to have mind like wood or stone.
And I suspect discrimination is a most useful characteristic at all levels of existence. For example I discriminate between stone and fruit at breakfast.

You're completely missing the point. Think about it further.
