There may be as many ways to advance in Masonic knowledge as there are Masons in the Universe. There are the intellectual pursuits of reading and studying, where knowledge is acquired and perhaps transmuted into Wisdom. Then there is the way of service where our hearts are opened to the other, and our experience is widened to include the universe. Still further, there is the way of Devotion where one attempts to surrender all to the One. In the final analysis each Bro. finds his own way, combining, mixing, purifying his advance in Masonic knowledge.
The important consideration is not the way so much as it is the advance, going forward, in this knowledge..
Advance, going forward ... excellent point stenwolf. One may move forward an inch another a foot, another a yard, matters not. I like the way Edgar Cayce's source used to comment on a deceased person's life (when they had advanced, gone forward)... the comment was "S/He gained". Apparently there was no higher mark.

Certainly there is structure in advancement - both on the outer and the inner.
A daily advancement suggests many small steps. How do we do that, if we do?
Is it by reading approved Masonic histories and speculations?
By keeping an open mind and keep talking.
There are many ways to advance your own personal masonic progress. I like practical experience, I believe it has the most profound effect
Hi Chris, What do you mean by practical experience? 100% with you on the open mind and keep talking bit. Sometimes we surprise ourselves with what we say.
