I think just about everything you said is correct there, LorrB; the only problems I do see with the quotation is that it subtly removes three Christian landmarks:
1. The Deity and Divinity of Jesus Christ (the christ mentioned in the article is a kind of New Age Christ being resident inside of everybody; more like a symbol for the "higher self" instead of the very real personage of Jesus Christ). 2. Achieving salvation through believing in Christ's atoning work on the cross alone (in the article, it is assumed that b/c of the New Covenant, everybody automatically without exception has instant access to God). 3. Reverencing and obeying God is the ultimate goal in life--not amassing secret knowledge (in the article, it is assumed that the ultimate goal in life is to amass secret teachings/knowledge).
No problem for me...
I think we individuals are sons and daughters of God also.... and by following the Way shown by Jesus (or other Holy People) we really can do what He did. We just don't like to think about it, because most of us don't want to do The Work.
"Jesus answered, 'I am the way, the truth, and the life, nobody comes to the Father but through me.'"... then why do we need priests/pastors and if Jesus also said that "I and the Father are One"... how do we know who was speaking? Maybe it was the One Alone Spirit communicating but in language that we might understand.
To reverence and obey God one must first get to Know Him. "Man, Know Thyself" might give us a clue on how to do this.

For me, Louis Claude de St Martin (The Unknown Philosopher), De Pasquale, Willermoz with liberal doses of Jacob Boehme, Dion Fortune, Blavatsky, Alice Bailey etc and my modern favourite Z'ev Ben Shimon Halevi. Halevi's guided meditation on the Tree of Life are an excellent place for those wishing to begin meditating.
