>"This is the message we have heard from him and declare to you: God is light; in him there is no darkness at all"
The argument that darkness must exist outside God is an interesting one. It requires that part of the Creation is separated from the Creator - hence has become self-existent. This is a difficult argument as it puts the dark part of Creation in near equality with the Creator. It is a Gnostic proposition and Gnosticism was put down by a crusade that lasted a century - the Gnostics were widespread and fervent.
It is perhaps better to consider the Jewish concept of Tzimtzum en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tzimtzum where the inbreath and outbreath both continue as long as the Creation is held in existence.
For us to see The Light we need something to reflect it. Maybe that is why Freemasons spend so much time trying to polish their crude stones. Mind you, even rough stones reflect light (thank goodness).
Beauty reflects mightily. Beautiful thoughts, words and deeds can light up the darkest of situations.
Which reminds me of the Special Olympics some years ago...
during the one hundred-yard dash, 10 contestants with different special needs participated. At the shot of the gun they started to run. A few seconds into the race one of them stumbled and fell to the ground. Without a word the other nine contestants stopped running, turned back, and picked up the fallen runner. They continued the race, and before reaching the finish line, they linked arms and crossed over the line together.
You know, I think that was a direct message from 'on high', showing us that until we reach that point of purity of being, where we act out of love and caring before all else, that we will willingly delay our return home until we can all cross the line together.
Why do you guys talking to these evil spirits and charlatans? They have nothing to offer you but a life of torment and suffering
LOL! To quote the great Bugs Bunny: "Geez, what a maroon!" ;D
They say Japan was made by a sword. They say the old gods dipped a coral blade into the ocean, and when they pulled it out four perfect drops fell back into the sea, and those drops became the islands of Japan. I say, Japan was made by a handful of brave men. Warriors, willing to give their lives for what seems to have become a forgotten word: honor. -The Last Samurai

The end of the world is a recurrent theme. St Paul thought the end was close by. Some early Christians sold their possessions and waited for the second coming and thus the end of the world. I suppose they wanted to take the money with them.
A similar issue appears with the prophecies of Nostradamus. All the interpretations that I have read put his forecasts into the current time frame.
Nostradamus however put them in a 7000 year context.
