You seem to imply anything less than a perfect match means one is not actually attuned to conditions. However NO creature is perfectly attuned to its conditions. The fact that they survive means they are adequately attuned.
"The perfect is the enemy of the good." - Voltaire
The nirvana fallacy is the informal fallacy of comparing actual things with unrealistic, idealized alternatives. It can also refer to the tendency to assume that there is a perfect solution to a particular problem. A closely related concept is the perfect solution fallacy.
By creating a false dichotomy that presents one option which is obviously advantageous—while at the same time being completely implausible—a person using the nirvana fallacy can attack any opposing idea because it is imperfect. The choice is not between real world solutions and utopia; it is, rather, a choice between one realistic achievable possibility and another improbable solution that could in some way be better.
It seems pretty clear that whatever evolution may have occurred in humans it has disadvantaged them in terms of unassisted survival - compared with other mammals.
So again we come to the question: what is the place of humans in the universe?

Look around you. Mankind appears to be is the planet's dominant species.

right now we r an infant that just opened its eyes. i predict that within 100 years we can be independent enough of "mom" (a.k.a. earth)to visit our aunts and uncles in person. within another century or 2 (if we can ever manage to learn to walk instead of crawl), we might even be able to visit other "families" and their offspring. will we be able to play nice?
compared to us, other mammals have not even been born yet.
that is prolly because they themselves r somewhat or completely non material. i would agree that other animals seem to be more aware of things not immediately apparent to us "evolved" beings. think for example of animals fleeing before earthquakes.
Is lack of body hair the primary identifier of intelligence in humanoids?
If not, hairy (or scaly) humanoids might be more intelligent than our species. Bigger brains might assist.
I've never heard that before! In my earlier years I was rather hirsute but with advancing years hair is falling out all over. I guess my mental powers are waning as well. Oh, well, it was a good run!
- are there specific design features used in humans? - if so what functionality do those specific features support? - do specific features of the design indicate any particular uses for which humans are well suited? - are there any signs that the Earth has functional requirements for which the human design is well suited? - are there any themes in ancient or traditional accounts that would support the theory that the human is designed and placed with intent? - have there been attempts to improve the design?
