It's all about states of mind. Being an ordinary person is probably related to the mass mindset of humanity, or going with the flow. It becomes difficult to clearly define categories of people and states of mind pertaining to social groups. Someone who's above the ordinary mind of man may be more inclined to think outside the square and receive knowledge from ageless wisdom.

To me being ordinary means to believe that the percepts which fall upon the sensory organs are accurate representations of reality: an ordinary person believes what their five physical senses reveal reality.
For me the challenge is to live in the ordinary world while not losing sight of the fact that it is not the totality of reality. Lets face it, perception does indeed tell us some things about the world in which we live. I cook, I wash dishes, I clean my house, these are ordinary activities. However I try to never lose sight of the fact that there is more to life than the activities which sustain it. I believe that this is a critical distinction. Ordinary people seem to believe that if the mind is busy they are fulfilled. So they entertain themselves by titillating their feelings with the many distractions that modern electronic media is so happy to provide. I exist in this physical world where so many find their fulfillment, by I am not fulfilled by it. (perhaps foxfires will read this and be reminded of the quote "in the world, but not of it")
To most people I appear ordinary. This is as I desire it. I do not make an issue of these distinctions with those who have no desire to know them. There may be an illusion here to the true meaning of Masonic secrecy - or the Christian "do not throw your pearls before swine" - or the more ancient "To Know, To Will, To Dare, To Keep Silent".
I wonder how much of our experienced identity is the result of global variables taking on a set of local values.
Thus: is there a Spirit with apprehended Intent that manifests as partially separated intelligences in various timelines and systems using local values?
If so, during sleep, a particular manifested intelligence might be somewhat withdrawn (losing its local settings) and then be re-manifested with no guarantee that the parameter values received on waking are the same as before sleep.
This process would result in discontinuities with the manifested intelligence re-emerging (waking) as a slightly different human.
A symptom of this might be an inability to remember actions from a few days before: What did I do last week? I can't remember!
A more extreme version might be occurring with people that after a severe accident awake speaking different languages.
I've definitely heard of people speaking other languages after head injuries. It's not uncommon. My father had an uncle who had many psychological problems in his background, and one night he went into some kind of delirious state and started talking in a strong Indian accent which rather frightened his family for a while.

There should always be time to still the mind. When the mind is still the cosmos reveals itself and Isis unveils. Nature will reveal herself when humanity allows her to enter in. The wisdom of the ages grows.

I have always struggled with the concept of being ordinary. How does one do it? Do ordinary people fit in easily to society? Is it worth it?
It has occurred to me lately that there is a large variation in how individual brains process information. Perhaps when people say ordinary they mean someone who processes information the same way they do.
