Hello Breathren, Fellows, Seekers ..... The EA Tracing B. On this particular B. Positioned on the ladder are 3 female figures. The bottom one wears gold clothing, the in the middle wears Green, next to this figure is seen a key dangling from a thread, it hangs from the rung just above her head from some figure Unknow to me. The figure at the top wears gold as the figure at the bottom. The difference is that the top figure has 2 young kids in her bosom. All 3 of them have some sort cape of some sort attached to there back, there colors being from bottom to top blue,pink,&white.... I feel that I have an understanding of the overall meaning of this board, and I understand the concept of the key "that hangs and does not lie" however I don't feel as if I have formulated a very good understanding of how it's used in this context. Further,I understand not the thing the key hangs off the ladder from? I don't get the capes in a somewhat "G" shape, attached to the shoulders of all 3 figures.... Any comments....

It would help if you gave a link to an image of the TB. Generally however the artists providing the EA TB have been rather inclined to translate Masonic speculation about the TB into imagery. This allows for much artistic license in expressing not very precise speculation. It may be better to refer to the earliest TBs for less fanciful representations. In my view the key is an unnecessary decoration. This is reasonably good but rather Christianised And this is much better and quite esoteric

Honestly I didn't have any idea that it would be unfamiliar. I've seen it at least a 100 times on the web. And I believe it's very appropriate the key is found all through masonic symbolism, it was quite prominent in the EA D. In the days of old you know "the tongue of good repute".....

US Masonry is a bit different in some of its symbolism. The tongue of good report is well known here but I have not see the tongue appear on local EA TBs. I wonder too whether there is some link to the ancient mysteries when referencing the tongue. For example: "Lir of the half tongue was the father of the gods, and of the universe. When he gave the orders for creation, the gods who executed his commands understood but half of what he said, owing to his having only half a tongue; with the result that for everything that has been created there is an unexpressed and concealed counterpart, which is the other half of Lir's plan of creation." www.cowellpiano.com/TIL.htmlThis overtly says that the GAOTU has half a tongue. A more correct reading, in my view, is that the GAOTU has both a male and a female aspect with the male half looking into this set of universes.

American lodges don't use TB all my know. Of them is from my own endeavors. I wasn't empling that an actual tounge was on the board. The Key is symbolic of the T. Of G.R. .... I'll sent more info on the same tomorrow, aswell as comment on some other things.

>The Key is symbolic of the T. Of G.R This is a curious symbolism. I wonder how it arose. Previously the key was the key to the heavenly worlds as shown here with the lion-headed initiator - holding a key in each hand:

That's interesting drawing, I can't say that I've seen it before. Idk how the symbolic key found its origin in the Craft. It is not used anymore in the states therefore I take the liberty posting the following.... Q) What do you conceal? A) All the S. That have been intrusted to me. Q) Where do you conceal them? A) I.M.H. Q) Have you a K. To gain entrance there? A) Yes R.W. Q)Where do you keep it? A) In a box of coral which opens and shuts only w/ ivory teeth. Q)Of what metal is it composed? A) Of none, It is a tongue obedient to R., which only knows how to speak well of those of whom it speaks in there presence as in there absence. There's some pretty interesting symbolism found here. I think it's a shame that this piece of symbolism has been abandoned the way it has.

My own view is that the key is important in a practical sense for attaining the temple in the heavens or the kingdom of heaven, but that its use is part of the genuine secrets.
It seems that the first reporting of the loss of the genuine secrets was about 1725 when the 3rd degree was introduced to the London Grand Lodge. The loss of the genuine secrets created a need to deal with important symbolism relating to the genuine secrets. This seems to me to have occurred by attaching some simple moral lesson to the symbols. The transformation of the key to heaven into a silent tongue may be an example of this.
The lion-headed initiator above looks rather Masonic with square key, serpent (cable tow) wrapped 7 times around, working tools, and a staff. And of course such an initiator would grip as a lion.

It's interesting that you mention the key being used to gain entrance to the kingdom of heaven, the words of Yahsua are " the kingdom of heaven is within you" surely a kingdom requires a key, this is in regards to the temple within.... Hence our first instructions in the N.E.C. However man is a microcosm, therefore it nessessarly follows that a macrocosmic implication applies aswell... Interesting. There is an ivory key brought to the SR aspirant early in the degrees bearing the title "Clavis ad Myterium" the key of the myteries. The same having a very intriguing occult doctrine attached to it. I took a second look at the lion initiate, and I noticed that the head of serpent isn't seen.... It's coiled about the figure in the same way that the serpent was seen coiled around the cosmic egg of days long past. And I'm curios to know the translation of the latin transcription by his left foot, that might provide some intel. About it. And also the rooster seen in the image, the same is found the Y. Rite, & in SR reflection chambers. Good post...

>" the kingdom of heaven is within you" Certainly this is true - the microcosm being a reflection of the macrocosm. This takes us to the core of Masonry - what happens after the brother has made sufficient inner progress? Is there a greater work in the temple that extends from E to W and N to S and from the centre of the Earth to the Heavens? What is the access to that temple? >an ivory key brought to the SR aspirant early in the degrees bearing the title "Clavis ad Mysterium" the key of the mysteries In some of the EA tracing boards this key is attached to the ladder - a pretty clear relationship? >the lion initiate, and I noticed that the head of serpent isn't seen. The head of the serpent is actually sitting on the top of the initiator's head, looking forward. The reproduction of the drawing is somewhat unclear. >the translation of the latin transcription C. Valerius Heracles and his sons dedicated it at some date. >the rooster seen in the image The initiator above is Mithras. He has 2 helpers (wardens?) called Cautes and Cautopates. A cock, announcing the morning, is an attribute of Cautes. Cautes is equivalent to the SW with his column (torch) upright. Cautes is accompanied by Cautopates with his torch/column down. Do they teach us to be caut-ious? Note that they cross their legs - as seen in the emblems of mortality. Here is a cock mosaic from a Mithraic temple

Love is the Key.

Love is certainly the key that allows entry to the Temple in the Heavens.
The next question is what skills are required to work in that Temple, and indeed in the Planetary Temple?
Is the Mason expected to labour in the acquisition of such skills?

>if the soul is hyper evolved it might also be classified as ... by some ... sociopath
As most humans operate primarily on the emotional level, it can be difficult for to detect the psychological state of those operating on the mental level. Lack of detected emotion is strange for the observer.
>then have his heart broken to find love
Or at least break the armoring around the heart.

>Not too many a Mason can go out and bait on a hook themselves and trap a black magician in their soul
That is not the purpose of Masonry. Masonry is overtly intended as a system to operate the temple that extends from East to West and North to South and from the centre of the Earth to the Heavens.
So far there has been some difficulty in training a suitable operating team.

> God only means basically we were all one once
That is a reasonable statement if God is separate from Creation/Existence.
If God refers to the Entity that uses this Universe as a body then there can be no real separation. The best we can manage is to generate a mental bubble and claim it as private.

>when we were there the magnetic approach vectors for Miami airport runway changed
I remember a guest worker in the publications department. Every time she walked past the large collating machine it would jam. After a few times she was given a job at the other end of the building.
