Freedom of thought can never bring The Craft into disrepute. The only things that could achieve that end are outright lies, or bad conduct on the part of individual Freemasons. People who slander Freemasonry, and spread rumours having no basis in fact--which usually amounts to the same thing, are not bringing Freemasonry into disrepute, only themselves.
Is that right? Or is it just a pontifical grunt? Does it not matter to the craft's repute what masons say publicly about it? What then are we charged to defend?
If only it were simply freedom of thought (that is to be encouraged). What we face is just what you wish to avoid, slander, spreading rumours having no basis in fact.
Did the Administrators here start this thread only on the condition that they prevailed in the debate as to whether or not they were bringing the Craft into disrepute? Okay, there should be no question, they are.
You have tried your best in various ways and places to stop what you regard as objectionable on this obscure board.
No doubt those who read these posts can draw the appropriate conclusions.
As you are wont to say, "Google is your friend." A few key words typed into a search engine and no public site is "obscure." This forum IS readily accessible to the public (it's not like the private mailing list of some arcane school).
A few weeks ago the site went private and could only be viewed by registered members. I had no great objection to the forum as it was then.
There is now a danger that repetition might undermine the sense of what you wish to assert.
Thank you for your undoubtedly well meant concern for the favourable presentation of my case.
However:
When you have an important point to make, don't try to be subtle or clever. Use a pile driver. Hit the point once. Then come back and hit it again. Then hit it a third time - a tremendous whack

Nice necklace, Tammie. Why the hood? You're not a bad looking bloke.
Bookburning, on the other hand is extremely ugly, and worriesome. Perpetrated by control freaks who are unable to maintain their positions in life by more reasonable means.

Book burning is but one of the defences of those who shun the light. The main approach is lying, with all its permutations (half truths, twisted logic and prevarications).
