Makes sense! I think your onto something. What If the lid came off, the inner fluids and containers would spill. Here is a pic and link of a Egyptian battery.
There is suspicion the Egyptians were gold plating other metals with these batteries as well. The ark was gold, but all the way? Maybe it was gold plated and also able to make a current big enough to plate other metals.
I keep thinking about this though. If the lid was also the electrical contact, you would be able to somehow use wood to get the lid on. But from there the only way to open it without dying is by knocking it over to spill its contents. Maybe the Egyptians had also discovered a different chemical reaction other then vinegar and something much more potent like sulfuric acid from volcanic areas.

That is pretty much how I see it Foxfires.
I can remember things I believed and did as a kid that I would never believe or do now. Some things I believe in now are so obvious to me that I cannot understand why others can't see it. But then again I used to believe Santa was real because he left gifts for me under the Christmas tree. Oftentimes things are not what they seem ... and that is what makes life such a fascinating journey.
The future of freemasonry - I would like to see more emphasis placed on the lesson of the Second Degree.

When I was an apprentice electrician many years ago, my finger strayed across live positive and negative terminals, and I cursed myself for being so careless. However, I suddenly realised that my raging hangover had vanished. Given how well the voltage cure has worked for some (22 February, p 34), I now believe that the shock is what obliterated my hangover. I never dared to shock myself again deliberately in order to test my hypothesis. Albion, Victoria, Australia
In my youth, working in a shop, the side of the till was open one time, showing something that looked like a battery, but was probably a large capacitor. I put my finger on it, and it was carrying 240v and I was in leather shoes.
The experience was as if a discontinuity had occurred in my life, and I thought afterwards that if I had died then I would not have even known the death event.
There is times I should have died or broken a bone at least too. So far I haven't done either... That I know of
Err no I did smash my nose open on a bathroom sink when I was a little kid, still not sure if it broke anything but I needed stitches. Although on the way home my mom heard me saying "owwey" a lot. I guess I didn't like how the stitches felt in my nose, because when she turned around I was pulling them out. Thank God I don't remember doing it HAHA.

Just a thought: you exhibit some uncommon skills, did you possess these to some extent before this occurrence?
Re death events - having had a few near accidental death experiences I can report that on each occasion time slowed down and the world became quiet (for want of a better expression) and there was no fear, one became an non anxious observer. I like to think that when ghastly things happen to people they are blessed by a similar state of consciousness. God of Love and all that.

If it had any effect it took a long time to manifest. Still, I seem to recall a friend who underwent a change of consciousness after an event with an electric device falling in the bath with her.
I have had some perty big shocks working in construction. Nothing really weird happened, but I did have my instincts wanting me to run around for about a minute or so HAHA.
