The untoward discussion on another thread reminded me of some angels that I had met and I wondered if others have met angels with verifiable names.
The first that comes to mind arrived while I was having lunch in the 1970s. It announced itself as the angel of birth and death (some one had died shortly before) and said its name was Orphiel.
The other angel that came to mind was Khamiel who is the angel of divine justice (avenging angel). Last time I met Khamiel he was using a meat cleaver on Glastonbury Tor. (Compare photos of the Tor pre and post 1987 - look for the difference in atmosphere)
While those angels are pretty stern, others may have met softer beings.
I have never (to my knowledge) met an angel (unless you count my girlfriend). I came across an interesting book on angels recently though. Titled "Sepher Ha-Razim" or Book of Mysteries. It was said to have been dictated to Noah through Raziel. The original text of this book is at least as old as the "Sefer Yetzirah" or Book of Creation.

I agree with the Roman Catholic Church on this one - we all have guardian angels, angels more generally I tend to view in terms depicted in the film Constantine
Paul, the way you see angels - no. But I am fortuante to know my own guardian angel fairly well, and have done for some years now, since I guess deciding to make sense of my life, a sort of feeling conduit to the source, a bit like conscience. (and before anyone asks no I dont hear voice in my head nor see angels - but I have been known to sense/feel dead people at funerals and in buildings).

When I read a book which introduced me to the idea of reincarnation I had the experience of remembering that which I realised I had forgotten. I just knew it to be a fact. This threw me into some turmoil, as I was a ‘good’ Catholic young woman at the time and the old nun stories about the devil deceiving etc came back to haunt me somewhat. Still I could not deny what I now remembered to be true.
After two weeks or so wrestling with this particular devil, I threw my hands up one night and told the Lord that this was too hard, He could sort it out.
That night I had an other-worldly ‘dream’ in which an androgynous Being, dressed in white, appeared at my side. The topic of reincarnation sprang to my mind and then the Being turned slightly and look directly at me, with the most beautiful of smiles, and nodded in the affirmative.
Whether it was an angel or not I cannot say for sure.. but I regard that wonderful occurrence as a great gift from God.
